Email Please!
We have a great deal going on within our surrounding community at this time, so being able to communicate with our residents via email is almost critical now. It is very difficult as volunteers to find the time and resources to communicate effectively via US Mail, by hand, phone or in person. If you want to stay better informed about issues that are taking place in our community, such as the Crystal IPD Project and the Plantation/Palmetto Extension, it is vital that you provide us with your correct email address. Many times there is little or no notice from the government entities of happenings and meetings, making it impossible to notify our residents of pertinent news in a timely fashion. Of course, if you simply do not have email, then we will mail out the documents that are required.

Annual Meeting Announced
The 2002 Annual Meeting has been set for December, 17th 2002 at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held at the Evangelical Free Church, which is located at the back of our subdivision in the sanctuary. Soon you will be receiving your Annual Meeting packet of information via US Mail. Enclosed in the packet is your proxy, which must be returned to us by the date specified. We must receive your proxy's back, even if you plan to attend in order to achieve a quorum so that our Annual Meeting can occur as planned. We look forward to seeing you there. Nearly 70% of our homeowners attended last year!

URGENT NOTICE: Plantation Road Extension/Widening Update
On November 22, 2002, the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will make a FINAL VOTE on the Extension/Widening of Plantation Road by 2007. This is not a done deal. So, we need to demonstrate that we're 10 united neighborhoods. BE THERE! We need to fill the room. Your presence, voice and vote really do count!
The meeting is to be held on Friday, November 22, 2002 at 9:00 am at City Hall Second & Hendry Streets, Council Chambers, Fort Myers, Florida.
Save our neighborhoods now, before it is too late.

2002 Holiday Bake-Off Announced
The 4th Annual Holiday Bake-Off is scheduled for Wednesday, December 18th at 7:00pm til... at the Bledsoe residence at 6752 Plantation Pines Blvd.
Each year the competition has become a little stiffer....we have some extraordinary cooks in our community...so give it your best shot and enter your favorite dessert/baked goods recipe. We have First, Second and Third prize awards. We're also expecting Mr. & Mrs. Claus...and there's always fun crafts for Kids and the reading of the Night Before Christmas by Sir Rodney. And we've always got some surprises in store...last year we had a fabulous horse drawn carriage ride! So make sure you mark your calendars! Don't worry if you're not a cook, entry into the Bake-off is not required.

New Signage
We are entertaining bids for new signage for our entrance walls. According to the online polls and conversations with residents, it would appear that many people feel that updating our signage would be a vast improvement, which would serve to beautify our grounds and polish our image as a community, thereby fostering and potentially improving property values. We will further discuss this at the annual meeting in the fall. Stay posted....and email or call to let us know what you think.

Your Virtual Community Online
We'd like to continue to remind you to frequently check out the PPHO.org website. Its your community center online. It is updated every other month, as well as whenever there is pertinent info. We now have over 30 residents on the PPHO email list. Please don't forget to add yours to the list, if you have not done so. Call 561-0325 if you would like for it to be added right away or send your email address, name and lot # to webmaster@ppho.org. Don't worry if you don't have email...you won't be left out of any formal or required communications, which will continue to be delivered via US Mail. However, we are able to easily and handily communicate with almost half our residents via email and this opens the door to much timelier, more frequent and less costly communications for our community.

Of Special Note:
New Area Code
Don't forget that as of of March 11, 2002 we now have a new area code - 239. We will have about a year to get used to the new area code. On March 10, 2003 the old area code will be made mandatory.

Note to Reader:
If this newsletter looks a bit strange to you, it's probably because it has been printed from our ppho.org website. That is why you see the links on the left and right columns that may not make much sense to you if you are reading this on paper. However, for a while we will continue to use this format to remind you of all the other features and interactivity you can get by reading this online at our community website. Just a reminder to visit it and use it. After all it's for you!
